The Profibus Configurator allows you to plan, configure, and manage entire Profibus networks right from within WorkShop's easy-to-use interface without having to wrestle with outdated and confusing third-party applications, such as COM Profibus. It may be used to set up bus configuration, assign hardware, address I/O modules, and even monitor and troubleshoot networks, all from the same screen. Unlike COM Profibus, which hasn't been updated in nearly ten years, FasTrak is committed to continued development and improvement of WorkShop.
WorkShop's Profibus Configurator offers a number of advantages over the obsolete software alternative. The Profibus Configurator:
Offers more convenience - It is built right into the WorkShop programming environment. Using COM Profibus requires you to switch back and forth between two different applications.
Is easier to use - It was created with Simatic 505 and CTI 2500 Series™ customers in mind. COM Profibus contains options for irrelevant hardware that makes using it confusing and cumbersome.
Contains more powerful features - All configuration data created in the Profibus Configurator is saved with the program file. Using COM Profibus, you would have to keep track of a separate configuration file, and possibly hundreds of device files for your Profibus hardware.
Is continually improving - FasTrak is committed to continued development and improvement of WorkShop, including the Profibus Configurator. COM Profibus hasn't been updated in nearly ten years.
Saves you money - The Configurator comes with built-in diagnostic capabilities for quick and easy troubleshooting. Using COM Profibus, these types of diagnostics are only accessible with additional, expensive hardware.
